Quintrex Product Safety Recall Notice
October 2013
It has recently been brought to Quintrex’s attention that the fitting of a particular style of navigation light mounting plate with our low split bow rail may be hazardous and a product safety recall has been implemented.
It has been determined that a small gap between the edge of the plate and the bow rail tube could act as a pinch point if someone’s finger was forced into this space for any reason.
This rail and navigation light bracket was manufactured between August 2005 and February 2012, and of the more than 40,000 Quintrex boats completed during this time period it is estimated that 836 were fitted with this part.
Wherever possible, Quintrex is contacting potentially impacted customers directly to arrange free-of-charge rectification work to be carried out by the Quintrex dealer network.
Quintrex Director of Sales and Marketing Damien Duncan said after the hazard was brought to Quintrex’s attention the decision was made to act quickly and perform a recall on all boats that were fitted with this particular part.
‘Quintrex values safety very highly and when the hazard was brought to our attention we immediately thought it best to err on the side of caution and have the product recalled.’
‘We do apologise for any inconvenience we have caused to our customers however we do feel it is important to fix this potential problem as a precaution,’ Damien said.
A list of serial numbers of potentially affected Quintrex boats can be accessed below. If you have not been contacted by Quintrex and you cannot locate your boat’s serial number in the list provided, but believe your boat may be fitted with this specific navigation light mounting plate and bow rail combination, please contact your local Quintrex Dealer to arrange an inspection.
